Dear Guest:

Welcome as a participant in a Western Women Premier Bowlers Tournament. We do have some guidelines, so please observe the following:

PARTICIPATION You must be a member of the USBC in good standing. You may bowl as a guest as many times as you wish, and will receive a rating on your WWPB Tournament performance. Non-members (guests) enter at $115.00 and will be identified as Non Member I. A Non-member (guest) who finishes in the Top-5 or makes the finals twice in one (1) tournament year will pay a guest fee of $140.00, and be identified as Non Member II. Guests will not gain eligibility points towards Bowler or Rookie of the Year Awards. Winning a WWPB event bowling as a guest, you will be recognized as a WWPB Champion and will be eligible for any Doubles event and the Tournament of Champions.

ATTIRE You must wear a skirt and blouse/shirt or dress. Skorts, culottes and walking shorts are permitted. Walking shorts must be loose fitting, no shorter than four (4) inches above the knee, front and back. No patch pockets, jean-style, or denim allowed. Skorts and culottes must resemble a skirt and follow the same rule for short lengths. Pantyhose/nylons are not required. No tank or crop tops, and no type of top where the flesh in the midsection can show while bowling. Sleeveless shirts are permitted, but must have a collar. Your bowling top must have at least your last name on the back, in English. Along with your name you may have a sponsor’s name, e.g. "Jane Doe for Smith’s Pro Shop." However, while bowling, no other tournament organization emblem may be displayed. Non-denim slacks and capris (no patch pockets) are permitted.

PRO AMs Guest bowlers are allowed to bowl in the Pro-Am as an 'amateur' in any WWPB Tournament. However, the Tournament Administrator may assign you to bowl in a Pro-Am as a professional. ALL GUESTS BOWLERS AND MEMBERS MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR PRO AM EVENTS. IF YOU FAIL TO SHOW UP FOR A SCHEDULED PRO AM, YOU WILL BE FINED.

PADDOCK There will be a room designated for you to place your bowling equipment.

BOWLING BALLS Our organization does not screen bowling balls for weights or hardness. Plugged and re-drilled bowling balls are acceptable. If there is ever a question on the legality of a participant’s bowling ball, it will be at the discretion of the TA to have that bowling ball weighed and durometered at the site.

MEETINGS Guest bowlers shall attend a brief orientation 30 minutes prior to your first squad on the morning of qualifying. Then, 20 minutes prior, you will report to the squad room for roll call. For the second block, report directly to the squad room 15 minutes prior.

FORMAT Standard tournaments have 10 games of qualifying, which are bowled in two 5-game blocks. There will be lane assignment sheets posted. Before reporting for your squad room meetings, you are to have your bowling balls placed at your starting lanes, and have your bowling shoes on.

SHADOW PRACTICE A standard allowance of ten (10) minutes. You will be instructed when to begin tournament play. When a ball is used, record that number(s) on the lower left of the recap.

LANE COURTESY No consecutive shots may be rolled on your pair, either by the same bowler, or another on your pair. Before another ball is rolled on your pair, a bowler on the pair to your right and left, must take a turn. In essence, you must treat the pair of lanes to your right and left as "one lane" e.g., If you are on lanes 5 & 6, ready to bowl on lane 6, and a bowler on your left is up on 3 or 4, and to the right on lanes 7 & 8, you must wait until they have executed their shot.

RECAPS AND SCORES You will be responsible for the accuracy of your own scores. Please check your addition carefully. After the first block, sign your recap before leaving the lanes. Take all copies to the bracket-person to tabulate. At the completion of your final block, sign and keep a copy for your records. The top white copy will go to the bracket person for tabulation of the qualifying standings.

FOOD, BEVERAGES AND SMOKING You may consume food or beverages while bowling, as long as they are kept behind the bowlers benches. If the center permits smoking, it will be only in a designated area. At no time are you allowed to eat, drink or smoke when reporting to the squad room meetings.

COACHES Coaching is permitted as long as it does not disrupt other bowlers or spectators.

FINALS The standard WWPB finals are that the high 12 bowlers (or 8 if less than 30 entries) based on total pin-fall in qualifying will return the second day for 12 match play games (or 8 if less than 30 entries). Qualifying pin-fall will be carried over.

Finals will start at 8:30 a.m., but best to confirm starting time with the TA before you leave the center. You are to report to the squad room 15 minutes prior to the starting time, with your shoes changed and your bowling equipment on your starting lanes.

You will be given a 12-game (or 8 game) schedule. Whatever your qualifying place number is, will be your lane assignment number. Circle your number throughout the sheet, as this will tell you what lane you will be on for each match. The finals recap has a column to the left where you may list these lane numbers.

Whenever you are scheduled on the odd numbered lane, you will start the match first by bowling one complete frame. Your opponent will bowl two complete frames by bowling on the right hand lane, then the left lane. You will bowl your second frame on the right hand lanes, the back to the left lane for your third frame. This will continue until the game ends. Each game won is awarded 30 bonus pins; ties are 15 bonus pins, to be added to your scratch total pins. To keep pace, do not start the next match until all others have finished.

After match 11 (or match 7), there will be a short break to determine the positions and lanes for the final game. The Tournament Administrator will announce them. You will be permitted two practice balls per lane before your final game starts. After the final match, sign your recap and keep a copy. The top white copy will go to the TA for final tabulation.

There will be about a 15-minute break while checks are being written. You may change your shoes, but stay in uniform near the lanes. There will be a presentation of checks to all finalists and the alternate. Be ready to come forward. Finalists will remain on the lanes until the end of the presentation ceremony. Only the top five will remain for pictures.
